Here are three “next steps” you can take to help the homeless teen in Springfield:
1. Pray- the needs are great and we must rely upon our Great God. 620 students in Springfield are homeless; almost 1000 new youth were served by Rare Breed in 2012…all of these homeless teens are victims of trauma. Pray that God will meet every physical, social, emotional, and spiritual need that these teens have.
2. Give- this year’s WMC’s Special Projects brochure lists many opportunities to donate financially to purchase essential items for homeless teens. The Rare Breed will use these designated donations to purchase survival kits, sleeping bags, blankets, coats, boots, and other necessary items. You can bring your donations to the Missions’ Office at Second Baptist Church.
3. Go- volunteers are the critical need for The Rare Breed. How do you volunteer? Call the Missions’ Office at Second Baptist Church (887-3111) to learn about the variety of volunteer opportunities at The Rare Breed Youth Outreach Center and/or the Rare Breed Transitional Living Program. The Missions’ Office at Second Baptist Church will help you (or your group) determine which volunteer opportunity is best suited for you. The Missions’ Office will then help you connect with The Rare Breed.
