International

BAPTIST GLOBAL RESPONSE -An international disaster relief and community development organization which provides aid to people in desperate need. Connect: Pray that BGR will help people live their lives with hope and peace.

BIG COUNTRY MISSIONS – Second Baptist will continue our work in the Big Country using English as a Second Language (ESL) and Culture Camps. Connect: Volunteer for a short-term trip or consider a full time, salaried position teaching English.

COLLEGE MISSIONS – This fund supports college mission projects throughout the year. Connect: Prayerfully consider providing financial support for a summer intern. Volunteer for a spring break or summer missions trip.

ITALY – UNREACHED COMMUNITY – Italy is only 1.1% evangelical so many opportunities for the implementation of a church-planting strategy remain. Connect: Pray for the vision trip team that will be researching unreached communities in Italy. Pray that God will show us which community, if any, we should engage.

PARAGUAY MISSIONS – This annual mission trip is designed to encourage Paraguayan nationals in their church-planting and discipleship efforts. Connect: Pray for Paraguayan national leaders and the missionaries who encourage and minister to them.

PERU – UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUP – The Arequipa Quechua of the Andes Mountains are only 0.5% evangelical, so many opportunities for the implementation of a church-planting strategy remain. Connect: Pray for the vision trip team which will be researching this people group. Pray that God will show us which community, if any, we should engage.

SAMARITAN’S PURSE PROJECT – Second Baptist participates in Operation Christmas Child. Connect: Fill a shoebox for a child at Christmas.

SCHOOL TO THE NATIONS – Seeks to train followers of Christ to take the Gospel to the unreached people groups of the world. They accomplish this goal by facilitating a discipleship school, conducting college Bible studies, and providing missions training for young adults. Connect: Visit the training facilities.

 

USA/Missouri

ALASKA (INDIGENOUS GROUPS) – home to more than 70 unengaged indigenous communities. Connect: Pray for the vision trip team which will be researching indigenous communities in Alaska. Pray that God will show us which community, if any, we should engage.

CHILDREN’S PROJECTS – Funds for supporting various children’s ministry projects. Connect: Volunteer to help with Kids Feeding Kids, Angel Bears, and the annual Missouri Baptist Children’s Home Christmas Party.

SEND: INDIANAPOLIS – The Send Network exists to push back lostness in North America through church planting in the areas of greatest need, such as Indianapolis. Second Baptist partners with multiple church planters in the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Connect: Pray for and encourage church plants and pastors in Indianapolis. KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – Second Baptist partners with multiple church planters in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Connect: Pray for and encourage church plants and pastors in Kansas City. Volunteer to serve on a ministry team to Kansas City.

JOHNSTOWN RODEO BIBLE CAMP – Burwell, Nebraska provides an annual rodeo camp where students are taught the Bible and challenged to memorize Scripture while also learning expert rodeo skills. Connect: Pray for summer camps and/or join the team to serve the first week in June.

OKLAHOMA INDIGENOUS GROUPS – Oklahoma has unreached indigenous people groups waiting for a Gospel witness. Connect: Pray for the vision trip team which will be researching indigenous communities in Oklahoma. Pray that God will show us which community, if any, we should engage.

PILLAR NETWORK PROJECTS – Cooperates with churches, individuals, and businesses to promote church planting and church revitalization, particularly in or near Marine Corps bases. Connect: Pray for and encourage church plants and pastors in the Pillar Network. Volunteer to serve on a ministry team to one of these churches.

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI – Second Baptist partners with multiple church planters in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Connect: Pray for and encourage church plants and pastors in St Louis. Volunteer to serve on a ministry team to St. Louis.

STUDENT WORLD IMPACT – (SWI) is a missions-centered children’s program at Second Baptist which meets each Wednesday during the school year. SWI teaches children about missions, missionaries, and how to effectively share Jesus and live an everyday missional life. Connect: Pray for and encourage the volunteer workers who invest in our children’s lives. Volunteer to serve on Wednesday evenings.

YOUTH MISSIONS – Each year, Second Baptist provides students with multiple opportunities to participate in mission trips and support ministry projects with our church planting partners. Connect: Prayerfully consider providing financial support for spring break or summer mission trips.

Springfield

AFTER SCHOOL GOOD NEWS CLUBS – Train volunteers to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in area schools. Connect: Pray for our After-School Bible Club students. Volunteer to serve in an After School Good News Club.

BRIDGE OF FAITH COMMUNITY CHURCH – Ministers in Rockaway Beach to transform generations in their community. Connect: Volunteer to serve with the church’s weekly food service and thrift store by sorting and distributing food and clothing. Participate in summer sports outreach events.

CAPITOL COMMISSION –  A disciple-making ministry to our Missouri Capitol which offers in-depth Bible studies designed specifically for legislators, staff, lobbyists and other key leaders. Connect: Pray for our state leadership. Attend the Annual Fundraising Dinner in September.

COMMUNITY L.O.V.E. FOR KIDS – A local ministry which partners with Title-One schools and with faith-based community groups in promoting literacy and Christ’s love through a variety of events. Connect: Pray for our community’s students and schools. Volunteer to help with Boys and Girls Clubs Christmas Parties and Book Festivals.

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES – Seeks to present to coaches, athletes, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church. Connect: Pray for athletes, coaches, and school huddles. Attend the FCA Adult Chapter luncheon at Second the 2nd Tuesday of each month during the school year.

GRAND OAK MISSION – A ministry of Greene County Baptist Association in cooperation with local churches which provides food and clothing for those in need in Southwest Missouri. Connect: Volunteer to serve at Grand Oak with the sorting and distribution of food and clothing. Participate in the annual food collection in November.

M.E.N.D. – (MOMMIES ENDURING NEONATAL DEATH) is a Christian, non-profit organization which reaches out to families who have suffered the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant death. Connect: Attend the Spring Craft Day, annual Fall Balloon Release, and/or the December Christmas Candlelight Ceremony.

NIGHTLIGHT INTERNATIONAL/NIGHTLIGHT MISSOURI – builds trusting relationships with individuals in the sex industry, offering dignifying alternative resources. Connect: Pray for those making life-changing decisions and those still in bondage.

PREGNANCY CARE CENTER – A non-profit organization which provides vital pregnancy and other related services to seven counties in Southwest Missouri. Connect: Pray for those making life-changing decisions. Volunteer at the center. Donate diapers and wipes. Attend the annual Walk 4 Life event in October.

PROJECT H.O.P.E. INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIP – A division of Project H.O.P.E. focused on international students in Springfield. Connect: Attend weekly studies with international students, assist with transportation, provide food, and disciple a student.

REAL ENCOUNTER OUTREACH – An organization of professional athletes using extreme sports to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Connect: Pray for safety for these athletes and for ministry opportunities.

THE SALVATION ARMY – Exists to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Connect: Participate in the Christmas bell ringing ministry. Volunteer at the Salvation Army center.

VICTORY MISSION – Shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ through emergency and educational services which lead to long-term reconciliation, rehabilitation and re-entry into society. Services provided include food, lodging, clothing and household goods, recovery programs, education, and job training. Connect: Volunteer to serve with food distribution and join the 2nd & 4th week food service team.

VICTORY GARDENA volunteer-based vegetable garden which provides fresh produce for area ministries feeding the hungry, homeless, and shut-ins. Connect: Volunteer for workdays most mornings and Saturdays from March through October.
