Missions at Second
If there was one word to describe the ministry heartbeat of Second Baptist Church, it would be MISSIONS. Each year, hundreds of people are involved in mission projects around the world. All ages in our church family participate in local ministry opportunities, as well as Missouri, USA, and International projects.
Missional living is not just about us; it is about bringing the healing work of Jesus Christ into a broken world.
Student World Impact
Student World Impact (SWI) is a missions program for children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. SWI meets on Wednesdays, from 5:30-7:00 PM during the school year. The purpose of SWI is to help children learn what it means for them to live their lives as missionaries wherever they are. This is done by sharing missionary and Bible stories, playing games, learning Bible verses, participating in mission’s projects, and hearing guest speakers. The children learn about local, state and international people who serve Jesus as missionaries.
Philippians 3:13-14 // Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching FORWARD to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
This year, we are moving FORWARD as individuals and as a church body! If you are interested in missions opportunities, from right here in Springfield to around the globe, we have something for you!
UPWARD Basketball & Cheerleading is open to all Kindergarten-5th grade children beginning in October each year. Practices and games run from November through the beginning of February.
Women On Mission
Women on Mission at Second Baptist Church meets on the first Thursday of each month to educate and involve women of all ages in the cause of Christian missions. Hear first-hand missionary testimonies and reports, pray for specific missionaries and their needs, and give requested items for their work. Women on Mission is a division of W.M.U. (Woman’s Missionary Union), founded in 1888.
