Missions at Second
At Second Baptist Church, we are guided by the Great Commission. In fact, we exist to glorify God by making disciples through the Bible and relationships. Therefore, we strive to mobilize our people to be disciple-makers from Springfield to the uttermost ends of the earth. But we also endeavor to prepare, train, and send out the next generation of missionaries. And we prioritize least-reached peoples so that we can participate in what God is doing to reach all nations.
We love to partner with the many agencies and ministries that serve Springfield. These opportunities provide our people with the opportunity to be disciple-makers where they live, work, study, and play, and to build relationships with people who might otherwise remain strangers to them. Opportunities are available to be a Gospel witness and serve others through these partnerships for individuals and groups of all ages and abilities, on a one-time or on-going basis.
Student World Impact
Student World Impact (SWI) is a missions program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, which meets on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00PM during the school year. SWI teaches children to be disciple-makers wherever they are by sharing missionary and Bible stories, playing games, learning Bible verses, participating in ministry projects, and hearing guest speakers.
World Missions Conference
The World Missions Conference strives to accomplish three goals:
- Recognize the greatness of our God by hearing what He has been doing to expand His kingdom
- Demonstrate love and support to our missions and ministry partners so that they will be encouraged and energized in their work
- Present new opportunities to serve and our strategy for Second Baptist Missions
This year will be a time to explore several unreached and/or indigenous people groups and cast a vision for new areas of engagement. Second Baptist will pray, give to the work of the kingdom, and seek God’s direction in what He would have us do to accomplish the Great Commission.
