Second Generation Online Resources

Dear Second Gen Families –

I hope everyone is adapting well to your new temporary normal. ūüôā¬†I was really looking forward to our Easter Escape Room scheduled for tonight, but we have hopeful plans to be able to do the Escape Room in the near future.¬† I mean we should be celebrating Easter all year, right!?¬†I will keep you posted on future plans as I can.

I made this video the day before I had to leave the church.¬† Justine and I miss seeing you–a lot!¬†Have your parents help you check our church’s website for updates from us, as well as, greetings from us at Second Generation.¬†We love you guys, and take care,¬†Mrs. Denise –¬†P.S. Bruce, Squirt and the whole rest of the tank gang are doing fine and will be taken care of during this time we are away. WATCH HERE to check on our fish tank!

Also, I wanted to remind you about our Baby Bottle Drive.  Hold onto your baby bottles; continue to collect your change.  And like our plans for the Escape Room, I will keep you up to date on a collection time for those.

Justine and I are missing all of you and are praying for you during this time.  Take care.  Please email me if you have any prayer request or other need we can help you with.

Blessings, Denise Schriver

Questions?

Serving Opportunities

Angel Bears
Each month during the school year, a different grade meets together to build a cuddly teddy bear angel which Springfield’s Police, Ambulance, and other First Responder services give to children in their time of crisis. This is an excellent way to teach your child the value of serving others when they are hurting, as well as giving back and investing in our community.

Kids Feeding Kids
Each month during the school year, a different grade meets together to pack bags with kid-friendly, nutritious food to feed a classmate for the weekend who may otherwise go hungry. Second partners with area schools to deliver the food to the children in need. This is an excellent way for children to serve their friends and to be the hands and feet of Jesus in their school.

New Believers Class

Our New Believers’ Class meets for four sessions, twice per year, in the Fall and Spring. This class is for children who have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ, as well as for their parents, to guide them in follow up discipleship after their child’s profession. Children discover, in-depth, the importance of the decision they have made and are prepared¬†to take their next steps of baptism and communion. After the fourth session¬†of class, the children¬†participate in a Children’s Baptism service on a Sunday evening, observe the Lord’s Supper with their families for the first time, and celebrate their spiritual birthday afterward with refreshments, music, and fun! This class requires sign up through the Children’s Minister after your child has made a profession of faith.

Special Needs

Every child is welcome in Second Generation. We do our best to pair children that have¬†special needs with teachers and “buddies” who can best utilize your child’s God-given gifts and talents and channel them into lifelong discipleship and relationship with Jesus. If you would like to discuss how we can make your child’s experience in Second Generation a success, please¬†contact us at any time.
