Thank you for visiting the 55+ Adult Ministry of Second Baptist. This is an exciting and multi-faceted ministry for those fifty-five years of age and up. Our goal is to meet the special needs of mature adults at this time in their life.
If you are not plugged into the 55+ Adult Ministry of Second Baptist, perhaps you should be! This ministry builds relationships and helps mature adults to worship, serve and go. It also enables you to build a sense of community while serving others and reaching out as witnesses of Jesus Christ. Armed with the life-changing message of the gospel, we are witnesses with seniority, experiencing the joy of ministering in their community, state, nation, and world. So, how do you get involved? The answer is simple. Join us and experience the blessings of what God is doing in and through the 55+ Adult Ministry at Second Baptist Church. You will find below information about several of our Senior Adult ministries that are waiting for you.
55+ Adult Ministry Meeting and Fellowship
55+ Meeting is for those who love to fellowship and have a good time. They meet the second Thursday of each month for the purpose of fun and fellowship. Speakers are often invited to discuss issues of keen interest to older adults. Day trips also are taken to various areas throughout the state. 55+ Meetings provides an opportunity to grow in Jesus Christ while having fun, building relationships and making new friends.
55+ Adult Choir - Second Notes
If you are looking for meaningful worship to exalt and magnify Christ, encourage and edify believers, and share the gospel through music, "Second Notes", the 55+ Adult Choir, will appeal to you. This highly enthusiastic group takes pleasure in singing in evening worship services, ball games, nursing homes, churches, and retirement communities. What a great place to plug in to worship and serve Jesus Christ.
55+ Care Ministry
Our mature adults reach out to care for each other by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of our seniors who are hurting or in need. Volunteers work through the "Honey Do" ministry to help older church members with small projects in and around the house. The bread ministry bakes and delivers homemade bread to home-bounds, church members with cancer, and seniors in care facilities. The calls, notes, flowers, and visits from our Sonshine and Flower ministers provide a caring touch to the lives of the sick and those in care facilities. The benevolence ministry also provides both spiritual encouragement and funeral meals to grieving families. As we serve, you are invited to minister with us and share the blessings.
55+ Adults On Mission
Mature Adults are on the GO in support of Second Baptist missions with the desire to increase the Kingdom of God. You will find us on the go to after school programs that help at risk children in our community. We go to shelters to help homeless and hurting people through difficult time in their lives. By plugging in to the 55+ Adult Ministries, you can link up with other mission groups serving in Springfield, North America, South and Middle America and throughout the world. 55+ Adults at Second Baptist have heard God's call to go and make disciples of Jesus Christ. As you plug in, you too will experience what God is doing.
Understanding that Christian maturity is a lifelong journey, the mature adults of Second Baptist are committed to providing ways to challenge their faith and service while enjoying the fullness of life in their season of life.
