Goodness of God
I hope you all have had a great week up to this point! Mark has been on vacation in Texas and then on to Colorado, so I know he is having a great week with family. Today I was thinking about the song Goodness of God and the timely impact it has had on our church body. I love the song and appreciate the chorus that proclaims, "All my life You have been faithful, All my life You have been so, so good, With every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God." This song declares the goodness of our God in every season of our life - no matter what circumstances we are walking through in the moment. The bridge goes on to declare, "Your goodness is running after, it's running after me, with my life laid down I surrender now, I give You everything, Your goodness is running after me". This bridge is taken from Psalm 23:6 that says, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…". The Lord is faithfully chasing us down with His goodness and mercy! This is good news! I love to lead this song and listen to the church proclaim these words together!
We started leading this song in both services at a time in our church when we needed to remember the faithfulness, the mercifulness, and the goodness of God. Going through a year and a half without a senior pastor was tough and it came with many trials, so it was important for us as a church to take a moment and recognize the faithfulness and goodness of God to us in a season for our church that felt at times very rough. When we sang this song on Celebration Sunday recently, hearing the sound of so many voices singing the beautiful truth that the lyrics of the song contain resonated with me greatly and I know it did with the body of our church as well.
It is important to remember that God never changes. The same God that we worship on Sundays is the same God that sees us when life gets hard and we feel that we are in a valley. He's the same God that gave Jesus Christ to die for our sins on the cross. He's the same God that brings hope and peace, and He's the same God that we run to in times of heartache. I pray that you continually take your troubles to the Father because He is faithful, and He is good!
I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week! I will see you at church on Sunday, make sure to bring a friend!!!
